WELCOME TO COAL CREEK

VISIT OUR ANIMALS

EDWARD AND EDWINA

Edward and Edwina at the names of the emus in the park and have been hand raised. Visitors can feed the emus duck food by placing the food on the ground. Emu and Duck food can be purchased from the front entrance or cafe in the park .

The Emu is the largest bird native to Australia. It is also the second-largest bird in the world (by height); the ostrich is the largest.

The soft-feathered flightless birds can reach up to 2m in height.

The Emu is common over most of mainland Australia and, if necessary, can sprint at 50 km/h for some distance at a time.

They are nomadic birds and may travel long distances to find food. They feed on a wide variety of plants and insects.

CASPER AND MINGO

In the early years of coal mining , the coal industry employed the use of
"pit ponies" to haul coal from the mines and later, as the workings progressed, in the mines themselves.
Operators of these mines were compelled to use these "ponies" both by considerations of economy and necessity, and their use is said to have been instrumental in making coal mining a success.

At Coal Creek we have 2 ponies called Caper and Mingo who enjoy roaming around the farm at the end of the park.

please feel free to visit to ponys.

Please feel free to visit and feed the ducks in the 2 lakes at Coal Creek.

we have a variety of ducks, including a roster and goose.
